1. We preach the gospel because of love.
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
For the love of Christ compels us…
2 Corinthians 5:14
2. We preach the gospel in obedience to the Lord.
“If you love me, you will keep my commands.
John 14:15
Then he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Mark 16:15
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and teaching.
2 Timothy 4:2
The World and Christianity Stats
• Despite Christ’s command to evangelize, 67% of all humans from AD 30 to the present day have never even heard the name of Jesus Christ. (Baxter 2007, 12).
• In the last 40 years, over 1 billion people have died who have never heard of Jesus, and around 30 million people this year will perish without hearing the message of salvation. (Baxter 2007, 12).
3. We preach the gospel because people are lost.
Jesus continued going around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd.
Matthew 9:35-36
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.”
Luke 19:10
This will take place at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels, 8 when he takes vengeance with flaming fire on those who don’t know God and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will pay the penalty of eternal destruction from the Lord’s presence and from his glorious strength.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9
If we truly believe that a soul without Jesus is eternally lost – then we cannot be idle – we have got to do something. The desperate need of a lost world overwhelms my heart and keeps me going for God.
Reinhard Bonnke
4. We preach the gospel because the harvest is plenty.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.”
Matthew 9:37-38
How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.
Romans 10:14-15
5. We preach the gospel because Jesus is the only way, truth, and life!
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12
For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all…
1 Timothy 2:5
This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent —Jesus Christ.
John 17:3
CHALLENGE:
If God so love the world, shouldn’t we?
If we love the Lord, shouldn’t we obey Him?
If we love people, shouldn’t we go to them?
What the world needs now is love, but not sweet love, but true love that comes from the God of love!
