Philippians 4:12-13 TPT
[12-13] I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance.
For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger.
And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.
In this verse is the total assurance that God will be with us no matter how small and big our difficulties.
We, as individuals, love it when everything goes our way, when our dreams have been accomplished, or when we are in the land we dream of.
But what if everything we ask for is the opposite of what we wanted? How can we live with it?
Living with what we are not used to is like living outside our bubble.
When I first came to Europe, I was brought to a small island in the Arctic Circle. I loved living there because life was abundant, and you had everything: nice people, beautiful scenery, work didn’t have much pressure, and it was so peaceful. People there tried to live a balanced life.
However, living and staying in Norway didn’t last because I couldn’t extend my visa. Since I wanted to stay in Europe, I decided to move to Spain.
There, I was able to experience being outside my bubble. Life wasn’t easy, and people loved to work overtime.
Which is the total opposite of my life on the island where I used to work. In this place, I learned a lot because I was able to encounter difficult people. This helped to mold me as a person. Here, I learned to surrender and be humble before God. I was also able to see the difference between living in comfort and an uncomfortable life.
From there, I slowly began to appreciate what I have instead of looking for what I don’t have.
Life in the bubble is always safer, but if you don’t get outside your bubble, you’ll never know that there is so much more—more than you see and experiencen.
Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for your sufficient provision and mercy every day. Thank you that no matter how difficult our experiences in life are, you are there to help us and provide for us. Thank you for the people we encounter who are able to mold our character. God, guide us every day, and may you give us strength in every circumstance we are facing. May we always seek you and trust you in all that we do and where we want to go. This we ask in Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!
