Genesis 39:2 ICB
[2] The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man.

Throughout the life of Joseph, God  is with Him.  God is not only with Him  but the reason as well as why he prospered and favored  despite all the challenges he faced. Perhaps in the back of your mind, you want to be like Joseph, successful.

As Christians, we are not deprived to be successful in every aspect of our lives. Looking back also in the life of Job, he was wealthy in everything because of God’s favor.

In the world today, success and prosperity in life become  an identity or become the basis of the value of a person’s life.  That oftentimes leads to become prideful and destructive. And Christians should not fall on it

Joseph did not allow his success to consume him and to become full of himself. His heart never changes towards God. He always acknowledged God as the source and the reason for everything he had. He does not even conform to the detestable ways of Egypt. Instead, from God’s wisdom and ways, he governs the people of Egypt. He made the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob  known to all , even in the face of King Pharaoh ( Genesis 41 ). Joseph did not just become successful in everything he did, but he was successful in becoming the person God wants him to be. A loving and forgiving brother despite what happened in the past. A man who loves and fears God.

As God is with Joseph, the Holy Spirit is also with us right now. And as he blesses us, may the life of Joseph encourage us that whatever God has given . Don’t let it become our identity nor make it our priority. But  in humility, we will continue to honor Him .
