“Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’” John 6:35
In this verse, Jesus meets a deeper need than physical hunger. People were following Him after witnessing miracles, hoping for more bread but He gently redirects them. He is not just a provider of temporary blessings; He is the eternal sustainer.
Just like our bodies crave food daily, our souls long for meaning, peace, and fulfillment. Many times, we try to fill that emptiness with work, relationships, money, or distractions but those never truly satisfy. Only Jesus, the “bread of life,” can fill the deepest hunger within us.
Coming to Him means trusting Him, spending time in His presence, and depending on Him daily. When we feed on His Word and rest in His promises, we find a satisfaction that the world cannot give and cannot take away.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for being the Bread of Life. So many times I try to satisfy my soul with things that don’t last, yet You offer me something eternal. Teach me to come to You daily, to trust You, and to find my satisfaction in You alone. Fill every empty place in my heart with Your presence and peace. Help me to hunger more for You than anything else in this world.
In Your name, Amen.
