2 Chronicles 16:12-13 NASB2020
In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet. His disease was severe, yet even in his disease, he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians. So Asa lay down with his father and died in the forty-first year of his reign.
Reflections:
In the first new year of his reign, King Asa did what was good and right in the sight of the Lord God. He obeyed God’s Law and statutes. But on his last year of reign as King of Judah. He acted foolishly by relying to the King of Aram and have not relied on the Lord his God for protection. He became proud and did not seek the Lord until his death.
In the life of King Asa, especially in his obedience to God. We will learn that a good start in our faith is not enough guarantee that we will have a good ending. It also encourages us that when we face difficulties, we should continue to seek and trust God’s promises and obey his command. Which will lead to a strong and more enduring faith.
Hebrews 3:14-15 NASB2020
For we have become partakers of Christ if we keep the beginning of our commitment firm until the end, while it is said, “Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as when they provoked Me.”
May it be today that when we hear the voice of God. Let us not harden our hearts. Don’t let pride reign. And while God initiates the good work of faith in us, as He promised. It is our responsibility to cooperate with Him and persevere in faith.
Philippians 1:6 NASB2020
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.
Don’t let challenges, temptation, and discouragement affect our good beginning. Instead, let us seek and listen to God, for He is faithful to help us win the race.
