Matthew 5:29-30 NIV
If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Joseph refused the day by day invitation of Potiphar’s wife to be in bed with her and even ran when she caught him with his cloak. Because He feared God.
The Lord Jesus also reminds us about committing adultery not only in physical contact but also in lustful ways.
We are reminded that if our eyes lead us to a place of sin, we must turn our focus on the other side and flee from it. And if our hands lead us to take what is not ours,we must give it back. We must let go and be content with what we have. Otherwise, we will face bad consequences.
So we must cut off those unhealthy habits in us. Remember, that a little leaven, leaven the whole lump.
Living a sinful life leads to destruction.
Romans 6:23 NIV
For the wages of sin is death,
May this awaken us about the importance of inner purity and obedience to God’s will.
