Why is the resurrection of Jesus true and honorable, right and pure, lovely and admirable, excellent and praiseworthy?
1. Because Jesus is alive, our preaching is true.
For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
(1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
God’s word is truth, it is breathed out by God!
Therefore, let us be bold in preaching the gospel.
2. Because Jesus is alive, our faith is effective.
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Those, then, who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished. If we have put our hope in Christ for this life only, we should be pitied more than anyone. (1 Corinthians 15:17-19)
Therefore, let us grow in faith!
3. Because Jesus is alive, our resurrection is sure.
But as it is, Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man. For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:20-22)
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11
Therefore, we have hope.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
4. Because Jesus is alive, our sacrifices are worthwhile.
Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. Romans 8:18
Therefore, we stand firm, excelling in the Lord’s work.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (v. 58)
CHALLENGE:
Have you heard the good news?
Have you received and believed it?
Are you growing in faith?
Is your life anchored on that which is firm and secure?
Are you excelling in the Lord’s work?
