That’s why we have not stopped praying for you. We have been praying for you since the day we heard about you. We keep asking God to fill you with the knowledge of what he wants. We pray he will give you the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.
Then you will be able to lead a life that is worthy of the Lord. We pray that you will please him in every way. So we want you to bear fruit in every good thing you do. We pray that you will grow to know God better.
Colossians 1:9-10 NIrV
God has given us the wonderful privilege of praying for others as He stirs our hearts through His living, breathing presence in us. Through our ongoing conversations with God, the Holy Spirit quietly moves us, through our thoughts, to pray for someone. Likewise, He moves others to pray for us. Unless we tell each other, these kinds of interactions are often unknown.
When someone we care about comes to our mind, we like to talk briefly to God about whatever is going on in their life. We use that time to just talk to God and pour out whatever we are thinking without being too concerned what is or is not “His will.” If our thoughts are along a line that we know is God’s will from the Scriptures, such as praying for someone to come to salvation in Christ, then that makes the prayer easier. Paul tells us here in Colossians to pray for others’ growth and wellbeing. Since we know this kind of prayer is God’s will, we can believe that God will work to bring wisdom, understanding and good behavior to others’ lives.
Today, we encourage you to pray for someone you think the moment you read this.
