Judges 6:14 NIV
[14] The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”


When God appeared to Gideon, he was threshing the wheat in a winepress to keep it from Midianites. He was hiding from his enemies. Though he was a warrior,  he still feared his enemies. Not because his clan is the weakest and he is the least of the family. The truth is because he doesn’t know the Lord personally. He only heard the wonders and deliverance God had done to Israel from his father, from his ancestors. Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God ( Romans 10:17 ), but  because of their present situation, he don’t have faith and  question if God is truly with them. So when  God ordered him  to save Israel, he asked for a sign. One sign is when he offered sacrifice,  the meat and bread were consumed through the tip of the staff that was in the hand of the angel of the Lord. And the other one is the fleece.

God is just and righteous in everything he  does, and he owed nothing to explain his ways to us. Yet he was gracious to Gideon and gave his request as he promised to him.  For Gideon to know that God is faithful and he did not abandon his people. With this  fresh encounter with God, it brings hope to Gideon’s feared heart. This encounter leads him to see and believe  that God is real.
But Gideon’s victory comes not only from his fresh encounter with God but also with his trust in God’s command to let the Three hundred men to fight in the battles and obey God’s plan and leading on how to fight the enemies.

Our faith in  Jesus Christ led us to have personal encounters with God. And this encounter holds  a very important role as followers of Christ because eveyday we are facing our battles who give us fear and lead us to doubt.But our personal encounter will not bring us on winning battles if we will not obey.  Our personal encounter with God will not bless others if we do not follow God’s leading.

Today, like Gideon. We may obey God’s word and follow his leading to win in the mission that God called us to do for his glory .
