Galatians 5:22 NLT
[22] But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Staying in the middle of the farm, I can see mountains, wild flowers, and trees that bear fruits. In the garden in where we stay, there are apple and pears tree. And every summer, they bear so many fruits, but no one intend to pick it up because the owner did not offer it. So insects devour it, get rotten, and fall on the ground. What a waste, right? And I realize I don’t want that to happen to the fruits that the Holy Spirit nurtures in my heart.
Maybe you have questions in your mind? But how and why?
Live-in workers for this summer are quite challenging for me. Though it is not my first time, it still gives me difficulties. Because I can’t do much of things that I used to when I’m working stay- out. And sometimes I work more than I have to and I need to be flexible. Like today, I’d finished my time, but I can’t help but not give a hand in doing the lunch and the dishes. This is where the battle of the mind and heart take place. My mind said it was not fair. Don’t do it.” Deep in my heart said, showed goodness and kindness to them. And I did.
If I let the unfair situation consume me, the kindness and goodness that the Holy Spirit is still in me will turn to rude and pride. But praise God, He help me obey his word.
By God’s grace, I am able to offer my kindness and goodness to my employer and the people around me. And nothing in me will be got rotten and wasted. Instead, I am able to build a good relationship with them. Not because they are good, nor because I am good. But God is good, who helped me to do it.
As Christian, we have a lot to offer because the Holy Spirit is in us and nurtures us to bear fruits. It is up to us if we allow others to benefit from it. Or we will let the bad situations devour the good in us and make us rotten inside with pride and anger and become wasted.
Showing and sharing the good fruit in us is not limited only to those who treated us well. But especially to those who didn’t know the Lord.
Luke 6:32-33 NLT
[32] “If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! [33] And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!
Today, offer your fruits to everyone.
