2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
[17] This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
This morning, we witnessed one of our church mate publicly declare her faith in Jesus through baptism. And I am being reminded again of how faithful God is to every person. He doesn’t want us to experience his wrath at the end of time, but He wants us to be saved through his Son Jesus. I am more hopeful that one day, my family will also accept Christ as Lord and Savior.
Becoming a new person or conforming to the likeness of our Lord Jesus or dying from our old self is not easy. As they said, it is not a one-time process. It is an ” every moment ” process. Every moment you speak, you think, you act..so many moments. Our old way of life must change to the way of life that God has planned for each of us a long time ago.
But we can’t do it all alone. We need help. And thanks be to God, He promises us that He will give us a helper. It is the Holy Spirit. He will speak the truth. Lead and guide us on what to do. He will always lead us to Jesus.
We may be away more far into perfection, but this is our confidence that God, who began a good work in us, will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. ( Philippians 1:6 )
I leave this question: Is Jesus’ presence enough as you journey to becoming a new person?
Prayer:
Sovereign Lord, Faithful and Gracious God
Thank you for loving us first, reaching us first. To give up your son Jesus for us to be forgiven, to be reconciled to you, and have eternal life through that death of Jesus on the cross.
Help us, oh Lord, that in every circumstances we will endure and persevere. May your Holy Spirit purify us from inside out that a new person will flourish to give glory to you. In Jesus’s name. AMEN
