Psalms 27:1 CSB
[1] The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom should I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life — whom should I dread?
I am risky, but I have a lot of fears. I am afraid of the dark, deep waters, heights, and being left alone. However, since I am risky and curious, I usually face the things I am afraid of. Two days ago, I saw a beautiful part of the beach with not many people, so I decided to walk and find a way to get there. On my way, I discovered that I needed to pass through an almost 30-meter-long tunnel before reaching that beach. I felt myself tremble since I am afraid of the dark, but I had this urge to cross the tunnel because I saw a light at the end of it. That light became my hope.
As it says in the verse, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom should I fear?”
Even though I was afraid, I crossed it and said a prayer to God: “God, may you protect me and be my guide.” So, I walked in and crossed the tunnel.
What a good feeling it is to have been able to overcome my fear. Fear can make us crippled or stop us from doing what we can do.
But by facing it and believing that God will be with us and not abandon us, we will gain strength, hope, and courage to overcome our fears.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you that you are always with us, especially in times when we don’t know what to do and we are afraid. Forgive us for sometimes doubting and not trusting you. May you give us strong minds and hearts so that, no matter what we don’t know about what lies ahead, we choose to trust you and fully surrender to you. May you give us courage and faith, God, in all circumstances and in the fears we are about to face.
This we ask in Jesus’ name. AMEN!
