Galatians 6:4 ERV
[4] Don’t compare yourself with others. Just look at your own work to see if you have done anything to be proud of.
I am guilty of this comparison. Last year, as everybody was spending their vacation, I was looking forward to having a vacation as well with my friends. Little did I know they had already planned, and I wasn’t included.
From there, I started drowning in my emotions, and my mind questioned, “WHY WASN’T I INVITED? WHY WAS I LEFT OUT?” I struggled and cried so much! But while pondering those questions, God spoke to me and said that I should not secure my identity based on being invited and included.
Those words hurt my heart and made me see that what I believed was ugly. I felt insecure because I based my identity on a fragile foundation of being invited.
Prayer:
Father God, thank you that through you we are secure and loved. Forgive us that sometimes we compare ourselves to others and depend on our identity on people, things, and what this world can offer. Help us to be grateful and content with what we have. This we ask in Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN!
