Confession to freedom.
Every day when I arrived at work, my employer would always welcome me and leave me with some instructions before we went on with our day.
She would normally remind me of the things I should do and not do as I am new at work. One Friday with the full knowledge of what I shouldn’t do, I took one of her instructions lightly. I thought that just this once would not do so much harm. I was told to not put plastic in the dishwasher for it has a tendency to be deformed but I still did it anyway.
And yes! What she told me happened and my worries and anxious thoughts began. Since we didn’t meet that day and I didn’t come to work on weekends, I carried this heaviness in my heart until Monday. Eventually, I need to face the reality. Between those days, I tried to make amends by fixing the problem on my own. I even thought of just buying a new one and replacing the damaged item or I would just ignore it until I was confronted.
I even ask God to forgive me in the eyes of my employer without me telling it. One mistake that leads to a series of cover-ups options in my mind.
While walking that Monday morning close to my work, I prayed to God and I surrender my heart to Him. It’s not that I didn’t want to admit my wrongdoing but I didn’t know how to explain it with the language barrier and the shame of the fact that I had been told so. I even ask God to speak on behalf of me instead but in the end, God put a desire in my heart to do his will.
I want to be free Lord, what shall I do? Then his word in 1 John 1:9 was my devotion that morning.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Do I need to confess Lord? As you said Lord, but can you please help me? Make a way for me to have an opportunity to do it and cause me mercy and favor in my employer’s heart, I prayed.
God is indeed faithful and just to go before us and be with us in the moment we choose to do what is right.
When my employer welcomes me as she does every day, God also opens up opportunities for me to confess and everything feels like magic. I found mercy and grace to be forgiven and cleansed me from my mistake and with all the unrighteousness in my mind.
I am encouraged to carefully obey God’s word and give our hearts to him as often as we need. I hope this story will help and inspire you also.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
God is our forgiving Father who longs for us to be right in him through his Son Jesus Christ.
John 8:36 NIV
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
What a freedom we have in Christ if we just carefully obey his instruction to us daily. Even if we fail, we are given a chance to admit, confess, and live free.
God is faithful and just to come and rescue us. Let us forgive and be forgiven. Peace be with us all🙏
