Seek and obey.
Joshua 1:8 NLT says,
Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
Recently I gave my niece a smartwatch on her graduation day. She was so excited when she received it. She called me while holding the watch and asked me how to operate it. I told her to look for the manual because the watch I have is different from hers and I am not so good with the technology nowadays 😅. For whatever reason, she looked for another one instead to help her and tried to operate it as how they thought it would work. To cut the story short, they ended up looking for the manual when they were done doing what they could do and were still not able to make it work.
I realized, that most of the time we also approach God the same way. We thought we knew until we found out we didn’t. We thought we could until we messed up. We tend to look for someone who has a similar situation to us and ask them first rather than inquiring from the Lord directly. Most of the time, we live life on our own and only seek him when we cannot handle it anymore. He became our last resort.
Back to the story, only then when my niece carefully read the watch manual and follow the instruction step by step, that the watch works succesfully.
The same way manufacturers create manual for every product they made, God our creator also gave us the manual on how we should live this life. He gave us his word in the bible and his Holy Spirit to be with us always. May we seek and obey continually for success is where the Lord is.
Let us pray,
Thank you, Lord, for the Bible. It is your word that is a lamp to our feet. It guides us to live a life of abundance as we obey. Forgive us for the times we trust in ourselves. We praise you God for giving us everything we needed to live this life you have given unto us. Thank you also for giving us your Spirit as our comforter, counselor, and constant helper who guides us every day. Thank you for the greater things you prepared ahead of us. We commit to seek and obey you. In Jesus’ name. Amen
