📖 Philippians 2:3-4 NIV
[3] Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, [4] not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Humility is a virtue that is often misunderstood in our society. It is not about thinking less of yourself, but about thinking of yourself less.
True humility is recognizing that we are all equal in the eyes of God and treating others with love, respect, and kindness.
When we practice humility, we open ourselves up to the beauty of serving others and building genuine relationships based on mutual respect and appreciation.
As we lower ourselves to lift others, we reflect the very essence of Christ who came not to be served, but to serve.
Philippians 2:5-11 NIV
[5] In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: [6] Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; [7] rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. [8] And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! [9] Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Let us strive to cultivate a spirit of humility in all our interactions, recognizing the dignity and worth of every individual we encounter.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, teach us the ways of true humility. Help us to set aside our pride and self-centeredness, and instead, to emulate the servant heart of Jesus. May our thoughts, words, and actions be guided by a humble spirit that seeks the well-being of others above our own. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.”
