The powerful words uttered by Jesus on the cross just before he breathed his last breath were “It is Finished!”.
In John 19:30, Jesus declares that his mission on earth, to conquer sin and death and pave the way for salvation, has been fulfilled.
This single phrase summarizes the culmination of Jesus’ earthly ministry, his sacrificial death on the cross, and the victory he achieved over sin and death.
As believers, this declaration by Jesus should serve as a source of great comfort and reassurance. It is a reminder that through his death and resurrection, Jesus has paid the ultimate price for our sins and provided a way for us to be reconciled with God.
This act of completion is a testament to the boundless love and grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
It is a beautiful reminder that no matter what struggles or challenges we may face, Jesus has already overcome the world, and through him, we can find peace and hope.
It is finished. Jesus died so we may live.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for your great love for us. We thank you for the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus Christ, who declared on the cross that “it is finished.” We are grateful for the victory he achieved over sin and death and the salvation he offers to all who believe in him. Help us to cling to this truth and find strength in knowing that through Jesus, we have been redeemed and set free. May we live our lives in response to this act of love by sharing the good news of the Gospel with others and reflecting the light of Christ in all that we do. Amen.
