Blessed are the Peacemakers

In Matthew 5:9, it says ‘Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.’

One of the highest calling of God on the lives of his children is to disseminate the peace of God to one another.

If you consider yourself his child, are you listening to his call?
Are you making peace with everyone around you regardless of how they treat you?

Regardless of how intentionally or unknowingly they’ve hurt you?
Are you empathizing with their feelings while considering their situations?

Whenever problems occur, are you attacking the problem, not the person?

Are you trying to clarify things instead of confronting them?

Scripture never said that making peace would be easy. It also never said it would come naturally.
Those who do it will oftentimes get misunderstood. Sometimes it just doesn’t work.
That’s when Romans 12:19 comes. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

Asking for forgiveness when you know you’ve done nothing wrong to someone is the hardest and maybe the most foolish thing to do for us but Jesus showed us that to ask forgiveness from someone who has wronged you just because they can’t and won’t do it is the greatest glory you can ever do to God.

So what can you do when you’re facing situations wherein you need to work things out?

Emphasize your desire for reconciliation.

Remember that the person who glosses the problems acting as if everything is alright when it is not is not a peacemaker.
It is good to ask the Holy Spirit to heal any wounds you have that keep you from loving unconditionally.
Ask him to make you like Jesus so that you would love people better today and make peace around you.

We are called to be peacemakers!
We are all called to search out the will of God for our lives and choose his ways over our own or the world’s.

Peace within, peace with God, and peace with others all require forgiveness and a life that seeks to restore broken relationships.

May we be filled with the courage to love unconditionally today as we encounter God’s heart to fashion us into being peacemakers.

May we remember Jesus, the Prince of Peace, the greatest peace offering, and be inspired to live a life worthy of the sacrifice made at the cross.
