Matthew 9:37-38 ICB
[37] Jesus said to his followers, “There are many people to harvest, but there are only a few workers to help harvest them. [38] God owns the harvest. Pray to him that he will send more workers to help gather his harvest.”
Jesus at that time felt sorry for the people because they were worried and helpless. They were like sheep without a shepherd. And that is why He told his followers to pray to God for the harvest to send more workers.
Jesus’ compassion to seek the lost is still up to this day. His patience is still at work since He hasn’t come back yet.
A harvester prays consistently to God of the Harvest with the heart of willingness and compassion to reach out to those who are lost and away from the presence of God.
As God put us here to be his workers and seeing how society ranks high on its unrighteousness, may we kneel and pray that God will raise more workers to help us.
More workers who are fervent in their prayers.
More workers who are committed to serving.
More workers who are committed to preaching and teaching God’s Word.
More workers who are committed to giving.
More workers who compassionately reach others to Jesus.
More workers who are willing to be sent out on the mission of reaching other places.
Above all, workers who love the Lord and do His will for His Kingdom.
As these words are true “one sows and another reaps“, may we also find joy in our hearts if others reap what we have planted. And continue to plant the Word of God to the rest, especially the unreached.
Never stop praying to the God of the Harvest and become more diligent harvesters.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, the God of the Harvest. Compassionate and full of mercy. Thank you for the gift of salvation through your Son Jesus. Thank you for all the things that you have provided to all who work in your kingdom. And we pray that you will send out more workers to help in gathering the harvest.
In Jesus’ name. AMEN
