You are reading a book and the main character is an 8-year-old king raised by a seemingly evil earthly father. As he grew older, he made some repairs to the kingdom that he led.
One day, they found the long-lost crucial book where great and good rules were written by the little king’s heavenly father, the father with supernatural powers.
Upon hearing what was in the book, the king immediately ordered a thorough reform of everything that went against it. He removed what was not supposed to be there.
He lived a fully transformed life; a life in which soul and heart are dedicated to his heavenly father.
But after all of these good deeds, he was killed in a battle.
How would you feel about that ending?
By the way, that was the story of Josiah, the king of Judah. You can read more of his story in the books of 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles.
Today I am sharing with you 2 lessons we can learn from his story.
First, if God is pleased with you, he will not allow you to see a disaster that will come.
2 Kings 22:19-20 NIV
Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people—that they would become a curse and be laid waste—and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the Lord. Therefore I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring to this place.’ ” So they took her answer back to the king.
Second, what you do today may affect your future generation, might as well be mindful.
2 Kings 23:26 NIV
Nevertheless, the Lord did not turn away from the heat of his fierce anger, which burned against Judah because of all that Manasseh had done to arouse his anger.
No matter how much Josiah had accomplished for Judah, still what God had spoken to his grandfather (Manasseh) in the past didn’t change.
Furthermore, remember David, all the favors that God bestowed upon him were enjoyed by his descendants.
True enough, God is faithful as he is just ☺️
Let it be that we become aware of our actions today, knowing that they may determine the lives of our future generation.
May you become the one who breaks generational curses, the one who removes idols that came through various forms, or maybe you can be like David, whose good deeds God remembers forever. ❤️
Choose who you want to be wisely ✨
