Our decisions and choices in the present will affect our future. And as I am pondering my present choices, God lead me to
Psalms 37:16 ICB
[16] It’s better to have little and be right than to have much and be wrong.
David was the one who wrote Psalm 37. Upon pondering his testimony about his life with the Lord, it came across my mind about his situation in
1 Samuel 30:21-24 NIV
[21] Then David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him and who were left behind at the Besor Valley. They came out to meet David and the men with him. As David and his men approached, he asked them how they were. [22] But all the evil men and troublemakers among David’s followers said, “Because they did not go out with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered. However, each man may take his wife and children and go.” [23] David replied, “No, my brothers, you must not do that with what the Lord has given us. He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiding party that came against us. [24] Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike.”
Even though David was greatly distressed before they won the battles, he didn’t fall into the temptation to become greedy and listened to what these evil men said. But instead, he gave grace and compassion to those people who were weak at the time. He acknowledged that without the Lord’s help, they would not won the battles. David chose to honor the Lord by giving equally and sharing it with the rest of the places in which they roamed.
As we become encouraged by David’s life. Let us not become a hearer but also a doer ( James 2:22 ) and in whatever God has blessed us, let us not hold tightly but give freely. ( Matthew 10:5-8 )
For it is better to have little and be right before the Lord. Because the Lord supports those who do right and they will be full in times of hunger.
