Are you familiar with the story of the adulterer woman in John 8 verses 1 to 11?

I believe we are all familiar with this story because it has been told a couple of times already.
I just want to focus on the part when that guilty woman was brought before Jesus and her immorality was exposed, the crowd did more than just watch.
They called her for condemnation but Jesus showed her mercy!
It reminds me of the time when I first betrayed and lied to one of my closest friends regarding a sin I committed because I felt ashamed of what I did.
But the sin that I committed was exposed! I was helpless that I could not do anything because I was aware of my actions, that I made a mistake.
It was so embarrassing to be exposed to our choices and their consequences.
By that time, I didn’t know what condemnation felt like, but the tension, the distance, and the emotion were too much.
Even though the people didn’t throw stones at me, I can feel the rage in their hearts.
Until one day, I was free!!!
I was forgiven.
It feels like the moment when Jesus asks the people to throw stones at the woman and nobody throws a stone.
I was like that woman who was offered forgiveness from the one I hurt.
I believe that it was God’s grace that set me free and it was God who used that person to show me that there is no condemnation in Christ.
Back to the verse in John 8 verses 1 to 11, the only one with the right to judge sin, who is Jesus, responded to the woman’s failure with compassion.
After dispatching her accusers, ‘Jesus said to her, neither do I condemn you.’
God’s compassion reminds us of his forgiving grace, and his command to her, points to his great desire that we live in the joy of that grace.
Both stories, that of a woman and mine, show the depth of Christ’s concern for us when we stumble and fall.
Even in our most embarrassing moments of failure, we can cry out to him and find that his grace is truly amazing.
The story ended with a command
GO AND SIN NO MORE!
John 8:11:
Jesus said to her: Neither do I condemned you! Go and sin no more.
Every time I am tempted, I will always remember that I was commanded by God to sin no more after he saved me by his amazing grace.
Every day, it is a battle and every day we have a choice. And let it be that our choice is to rise above temptations and win over the enemy!
Amen!
