Therefore, it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. – James 4:6-8
As we wrestle with our natural predispositions toward certain types of strongholds, humility will always be our protection. We need grace every moment. And pride will never help us out.
Sometimes, we think of strongholds as substance addictions or destructive behaviors. These things are most definitely strongholds. But usually, before the external behavior, there were signs of thoughts or an attitude that permitted that stronghold to start into those behaviors.
Especially for some of us who have been part of the church for some time already, we can get complacent on the internal matters. But this is actually where the battle space started. Where Jesus came, suffered, and died for. The same space the enemy of our souls tries to steal his strongholds.
But that space inside you was designed already for the purpose of victory.
Pray:
Lord, cause me to see pride and arrogance the same way You do. I need your grace and mercy to help me see through it and to repent of it in every moment. Give me the grace and forgiveness to grow in humility. Help me resist the enemies by holding on to humility. Teach me to humble myself the same way you were when you walked this earth. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen and Amen.
